  It's a scuba diver's paradise. There are some pretty famous excursions not to miss.  Licensed SCUBA divers who want to spend even more of their vacation under the water will find the clear Caribbean Sea, tropical fish and beautiful coral make this island a great destination for diving. Over 30 dive sites surround it and offer everything from wrecks to reefs to underwater tunnels. Many certified dive shops can take divers to the best areas, but also provide training to those who might never have tried SCUBA diving before but want to learn.

   Mahogany Run Golf Course - This championship par-70, 18-hole golf course, designed by Tom Fazio, overlooks the Caribbean Sea with sweeping views of the British Virgin Islands, and features the "Devil's Triangle," a three-hole challenge that often stumps the best of golfers.

Also, this island is shoppers paradise, because it's a duty free port. I concentrate on the jewelry, but you may decide on perfume or something else. The USVI raised its duty-free allowance to $1,600 per person. Family members traveling together can make a joint declaration that increases the amount of their allowance. Gifts valued $100 or less can be mailed (no more than one package per day); do not need to be declared in the exemption. US visitors are allowed to return with six bottles of liquor if one of the bottles was produced locally. Duty of 6% is charged for purchases totaling more than $1,600. I buy, then I sell it for a profit. Obviously that pays for my cruise, but it gives me a profit as well!   Charlotte Amalie serves as the center of activity on almost every front. The largest city on the island and capital of the United States Virgin Islands, Charlotte Amalie houses most of the islands businesses and permanent population. Of course, the total number of people on the island grows well beyond the 50,000 full time residents during the busy season with hotel rooms filled and multiple cruise ships at the dock.

Carnival in St. Thomas is a Apr/May month long event that kicks off with pageants and calypso shows, and really heats up in the last week with hard core partying at the Village, J’ouvert, Food Fair, with two parades, fireworks and dancers!
